Creative Mode Instance Guide

Official EU / NA Servers Only

Overview

Instanced Creative Mode is available on the Official EU and NA Servers. It allows you to build structures in a dedicated Creative Mode instance without taking resources or items between Creative Mode and the regular survival universe.

You can build privately in your own personal instance or share a creative building space with your faction. Structures remain in the instance when you leave, just like in regular Creative Mode.

How to Enter Creative Mode

Option 1: Place Portals on Your Base

Unlock the portals in the Tech Tree and place them on your base. You can use these portals to access the available Creative Mode instances. Tech Tree

Exiting an instance through your own portals will always return you to the GTS (Galactic Trading Station).

Option 2: Use the GTS

Fly to the Galactic Trading Station (GTS) in the Cygnus System. The portals at the GTS provide access to the different Creative Mode instances. Galactic Trading Station

Helpful LCDs next to the GTS portals explain which portal leads to which instance.

  • Mod commands cannot be used.
    • This includes commands such as CB and AM.

You cannot take anything into or out of the instance. This restriction also applies to the armor you are wearing.

You cannot leave the playfield by any other means, including God Mode or using a vessel to fly away.

The only way to exit is through the portal you entered with.

Certain blocks are deactivated compared to regular Creative Mode to prevent exploits.

Instance Limits

The following limits apply to Instanced Creative Mode:

25
Maximum Structures per Instance
75
Maximum Spawnable Class Size
5
Maximum Active Instances
The limit of five active instances at the same time is hardcoded.

What Happens When You Leave?

Your Structures Remain

When you leave an instance, your structures will remain there, just like in regular Creative Mode.

Leaving an instance does not delete the structures you built. They will remain in the instance until that instance is closed.

Deleting Structures and Closing an Instance

Warning: Closing an instance destroys everything inside it.

If you have not saved your structures elsewhere, they will be permanently lost. Staff will NOT be able to assist with recovering instances or destroyed structures.

How Instance Deletion Works

You cannot use console commands or CB commands to delete structures from an instance. To delete the structures inside an instance, you must close the active instance.

Closing an instance invalidates its ticket, and everything inside that instance will be destroyed. The next time you enter the portal, a fresh instance will be created.

Step 1: Find the Instance ID

Talk to either of the following consoles:

  • The console outside the instance portal.
  • The personal communication console on your own structure.

The console will tell you the instance ID and instance name. Instance Controller

Step 2: Close the Instance

Use the instance ID shown by the console in the input box to close that instance. Instance Controller

Once closed, the instance ticket will be invalidated and all structures inside the instance will be destroyed.

Important: Faction Instances

When closing a faction-owned instance, the ticket will be invalidated for ALL faction members.

Use this option with care. Closing the instance destroys all structures inside it, including structures built by other faction members.

Staff will NOT be able to recover the instance or its destroyed structures.
